Marie Curie was a scientist born in Warsaw, Poland in 1867. In 1891, Marie went to the Sorbonne University in Paris and studied Physics and Mathematics. After her studies, Marie worked in a lab and did research on radioactivity. She also discovered polonium and radium with her husband, Pierre in 1898. Marie Curie was the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. She was the first woman to win one in Physics in 1903. She then won another in Chemistry in 1971. Marie Curie died in 1934. Her work and discoveries improved many different areas of science and encouraged more women to become scientists.​
