Even I tend to get a little too focused on the number on the scale at times.
Good friends remind me that I need to be happy on the inside with myself.
I usually give them a scrunched up face in return, basically saying I don’t want to go there, but really, they’re right.
It’s just so easy to say that when you’re actually happy with your body. Like this gal (see above). She looks so at peace, not just because she’s in some awesome field, doing an awesome stretch, and soaking up some awesome sun- it’s also because she’s a MODEL, a THIN model. But I digress.
So going forward I am attempting to put more effort and thought into finding mental happiness with myself and my body, within about a 5 lb range or so…..
Books I plan to read:
Being: Your Happiness, Pleasure, and Contentment
Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements
The Happiness Diet
Miss Piggy’s Guide to Life (just kidding on that one- then again, maybe that lady has some sage advice….)
I don’t know about you but the only time I’m ever successful at a diet is when I have a support system.
Having a girlfriend or girlfriends to do the diet with is best, going to some type of diet “meeting” is next best, and support from a husband….well that would be GREAT, actually it would TOP the list, but pretty unlikely to get most of the time. Most my girlfriends report hubbies and boyfriends eating pizza and cartons of cookies right in front of them, so I just don’t count on that happening too often.
There’s actually a very interesting article on the topic of diets and support systems.
It said basically that women who had phone counseling in regards to eating healthy, really DID eat much healthier on a regular basis.
I wonder if I get phone counseling on how to be more beautiful if I’ll wake up with a different face tomorrow?
Kidding aside, seriously girls, if you are trying to do this alone, STOP.
Maybe all your girlfriends are already thin, or maybe they want to stay fat, whatever- guess what? There is a HUGE online community out there for every type of diet in creation (well maybe not vast, but you know) where you can build relationships and get support while you are dieting.
Here’s just a few resources:
and….youtube! Get on there and find other people doing the same diet as you. I’d bet you all the future s’mores in my life that they want friends on the diet too.
